Ukrainian soldier praised for saving lifetime of stabbing sufferer in Venice

A Ukrainian soldier has been praised for saving the lifetime of a stabbing sufferer throughout a visit to Venice.

Yanis Tereshchenko, a 32-year-old trainer who enlisted within the Ukrainian military’s third assault brigade instantly after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, was on his technique to his resort together with his spouse and his five-year-old son within the Rialto district when he witnessed an altercation between two younger males.

All of a sudden, one in all them drew out a big knife and stabbed the opposite within the arm and leg.

“Fortunately, I had my emergency kit with me, the one I’ve carried since the war began, even though my wife always tells me to leave it at home,” Tereshchenko advised Corriere del Veneto. “I saw a deep wound on his thigh and pulled out a tourniquet to stem the bleeding. He lost consciousness and was haemorrhaging. I tried to bring him back to life.”

Docs later mentioned that Tereshchenko’s intervention was very lucky. The sufferer was shedding blood quickly, and with out the soldier’s immediate motion, he may need died. Tereshchenko did his greatest to maintain him aware till the ambulance arrived.

“I don’t know if he would have survived,” he mentioned. “People were confused, and no one knew what to do. Sadly, I have seen so much during the war that I had no doubt about the need to intervene.”

Venice’s mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, met Tereshchenko and his household personally to thank him and current him with a plaque.

The identities of the sufferer and the assailant, in addition to the motivation behind the assault, stay unclear.
