“The Maratus spiders of Australia are the most colourful, flamboyant, sexy, and charming spiders on the planet,” says Maria Fernanda Cardoso, whose vibrant portraits seize the tiny creatures in exceptional element. Kicking off a tour all through Australia, the photographer’s exhibition Spiders of Paradise, organized in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Artwork Australia, highlights the arachnids’ unbelievable range.

Maratus are generally known as “peacock spiders” because of the males’ sensible shows throughout courtship rituals—and in some circumstances, fight. Born in Bogota, Colombia, Cardoso has known as Sydney dwelling since 1997 and has lengthy been fascinated by the intersections of nature, science, artwork, and know-how.
