The Winners of This Annual Competitors Present Nature Is Prepared for Its Shut-Up

A putting silhouette of two combating stag beetles takes the highest prize within the sixth annual Shut-Up Photographer of the 12 months contest (beforehand), capping a bunch of class winners and finalists that showcase an array of pure phenomena in astonishing element.

A jury of 25 specialists, comprising scientists, editors, naturalists, journalists, and photographers, narrowed down 100 photos from greater than 11,000 entries. Photographers in 61 nations submitted images of a variety of animals and environments, capturing dramatic behaviors and interesting habitats.

1st place within the Butterflies & Dragonflies class: Yong Miao, “Damselfly by the Waterfall.” A damselfly (Archineura incarnata) rests on a rock amidst a flowing waterfall in Tianmushan Nature Reserve, Zhejiang Province, China

Amongst many favorites, Yong Miao’s stunning shot of a damselfly perched on a stone close to a waterfall received the Bugs class, Barry Webb’s seize of an ear-pick fungus topped the Fungi & Slime Moulds class, and Gabriel Jensen’s portrait of a fish within the toothy mouth of a predator took the highest spot within the Underwater class.

The competitors highlights not solely unbelievable photos but in addition the fascinating science and tales behind them. “Summer brings calm seas to South Florida where a dedicated community of shore diving photographers head out nearly every day to survey the world’s third largest coral reef for interesting wildlife,” Jensen says.

Her associates noticed a lizard fish (Synodus foetens) grappling with a big doctorfish. She provides, “After a few minutes of struggle, the doctorfish managed to escape. This image now sits on my desk at work, serving as a reminder that even on tough days, “Everything’s going to be A-OK.”

CUPOTY co-founder Tracy Calder says, “Close-up photography is a celebration of curiosity,” additionally sharing that the profitable entries are “a true testament to the artistry of everyone involved, as well as an invitation to look, marvel at, and honour the world around us.” See all the highest images within the competitors’s on-line gallery.
