Singer Dave Loggins Useless at 76

Dave Loggins, a rustic singer and songwriter who wrote the theme tune for the Masters golf match, is useless.

Dave died Wednesday in Nashville … in accordance with an obituary in The Tennessean.

The reason for loss of life is unclear, however Dave was stated to be in hospice care when he handed.


Born and raised in Tennessee, Dave was one of many state’s most notable songwriters … writing hits for Johnny Money, Toby Keith, Alabama, Wynonna Judd, Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson and Three Canine Night time … amongst others.

Dave additionally famously penned “Augusta,” the theme tune for the Masters … and it has been a staple of the TV broadcast ever since he wrote it manner again in 1981, changing into synonymous with CBS Sports activities and Jim Nantz.

In 1986, Dave turned the primary and solely unsigned artist to win a CMA award … taking residence the {hardware} for a duet with Anne Murray, “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do.”

He had a solo hit too … “Please Come to Boston” … and his profession included a Grammy nomination, plus an induction into the Nashville Songwriters Corridor of Fame.

He is survived by his three sons and a grandson.
