Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and wife Jerry Hall, a former supermodel, have split up after six years of marriage.
Murdoch’s attorney Robert S. Cohen and Hall’s attorney Judith L. Poller confirmed to USA TODAY Thursday that the couple finalized their divorce. Murdoch’s representative Bryce Tom also confirmed the divorce in an emailed statement.
“They remain good friends and wish each other the best for the future,” the attorneys said in an emailed statement.
Murdoch, 91, and Hall, 66, married in March 2016 at Princess Diana’s family townhouse Spencer House, an 18th-century palace in central London still owned by the late Diana’s brother, the Earl Spencer.
Australian-born Murdoch and Texas-native Hall began dating after they were introduced by one of Murdoch’s sisters and his niece in Australia. The couple went public with their relationship in October 2015, appearing together at the Rugby World Cup final in London.
The two became engaged in January 2016 while attending the Golden Globes awards in Los Angeles, The Times of London, which is owned by Murdoch’s News Corporation, reported at the time.
“They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future,” a Murdoch family spokesman told the newspaper.

Murdoch shares six children with three previous wives.
Murdoch was married to Patricia Booker from 1956-1965, Anna Torv from 1967-1999 and Wendi Deng from 1999-2013. He has four daughters: Prudence, Elisabeth, Grace and Chloe, and two sons, Lachlan and James.
Hall shares four children with her former partner, rock singer Mick Jagger – two daughters, Elizabeth and Georgia, and two sons, James and Gabriel.
Hall and The Rolling Stones frontman had an unofficial private Hindu marriage ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, in 1990, but it wasn’t legal, unbeknownst to Hall. During their divorce proceedings in 1999, a British court declared the marriage invalid.
