Tony Bennett and Joni Mitchell make rare appearance at Grammys
Tony Bennett made an appearance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, in order to introduce his friend and old singing partner Lady Gaga. Gaga honored the 95-year-old crooner with an emotional performance. Tony Bennett wasn’t the only legend who made an appearance, as Bonnie Raitt introduced another pioneer Joni Mitchell to a loud ovation. Silk Sonic achieved quite a lot as Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak took home four awards including Record of the Year. “We are really trying our hardest to remain humble at this point, okay,” .Paak said. “But in the industry we call that a clean sweep.” Doja Cat won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance along with Sza, but she almost missed her own acceptance speech because she was in the litter box. “I have never taken such a fast piss in my whole life,” she said after accepting her award. Jon Batiste surprised a few people when his album “We Are” took home Album of the Year. “This is for real artists, real musicians, let’s just keep going,” Batiste said. “Be you, that’s it. I love you.” While there were a lot of discussions about a potential appearance on last week’s Oscars, it was actually the Grammys where Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke. On our land, we are fighting Russia which brings horrible silence with its bombs,” Zelenskyy said. “The dead silence. Fill the silence with your music. Fill it today to tell our story.”
