Delicately peeled pores and skin and supple folds seem the place we’d least count on them in José Manuel Castro López’s stone sculptures (beforehand). From small boulders of granite and quartz discovered close to his house in A Coruña, Spain, the artist carves and polishes delicate wrinkles that recommend cloth or the malleability of smashed, moist clay. For instance, “Recorte de Piel,” or “Skin Peeling,” resembles an angular slice of potato pores and skin rigorously pulled away.
A number of works proven listed here are a part of López’s exhibition at Cadogan Solo in Milan, which continues by October 31. Regulate his Instagram for updates.
