Aaron Rodgers stirred controversy following the New York Jets’ slender 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Payments, publicly criticizing teammate Mike Williams for an important play that price them the sport.

Regardless of Rodgers’ spectacular 294 passing yards and a spectacular 52-yard Hail Mary landing, the Jets fell to a disappointing 2-4 report below new head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

The sport’s pivotal second got here within the ultimate two minutes when Rodgers focused Williams on a deep 50-yard move.

Williams slipped, permitting Payments’ Taron Johnson to intercept the move, successfully ending the Jets’ comeback hopes.

Rodgers’ subsequent feedback about Williams drew sharp criticism, together with from former NBA star Paul Pierce.

Pierce voiced his disapproval of Rodgers’ actions, stating, “That’s an unwritten rule in sports. If somebody has to call their player out, let that be the coach or the offensive coordinator. But my teammates throw me under the bus like that? I can’t deal with that.”

He emphasised the potential unfavorable influence on staff morale, suggesting such public criticism might create an environment the place gamers concern being known as out for errors.

Pierce argued {that a} true chief of a championship-caliber staff would by no means interact in such conduct.

“You just don’t call your teammates out. It’s an unwritten rule. That’s not great leadership,” Pierce added.

The loss was notably painful for the Jets, who missed a chance to tie for the AFC East lead.

As an alternative, they now discover themselves in third place with a 2-4 report, whereas Buffalo leads at 4-2.
