Born and raised in bustling London, Morag Myerscough has all the time been keenly attuned to the rhythms of city life and the patterns of group. By way of large-scale, vibrant installations around the globe, the artist emphasizes pleasure, optimism, and a way of belonging.

Myerscough typically incorporates phrases that convey constructive values and native pleasure into vividly hued affirmations. A big archway put in in Paris, a part of the set up “Love Letters,” performs on the French motto “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité” —liberty, equality, fraternity—including elementary societal ideas like dignity, hope, and justice. On an adjoining construction, phrases like “Sing,” “Play,” and “This is how I love my city” brighten up pedestrians’ routes.

The artist was additionally lately commissioned to create an expansive kinetic construction for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Competition in April. “Dancing in the Sky” invited attendees to wander via a geometrical forest of columns and spires, topped with contraptions that twirled within the wind. Myerscough’s immersive items comply with her philosophy that “we make belonging,” welcoming guests into playful encounters that provoke new methods of seeing their environment and fascinated by togetherness, cooperation, and group.
