Racial insults, cursing directed toward local group registering voters in Vero Beach
Shameful behavior at Vero Beach Downtown Feb. 25. Adults cursing and shouting racial insults and fake news at local group registering voters and gathering petitions to get candidates on the ballot. The MAGATS continue to proudly display their ignorance and disrespect. Low-class bar behavior is inappropriate at a family event in our community.
Our thanks to the many well-informed, gracious and civilized people who stopped by to wish us well and thank us for our work to preserve our democracy. Vote! It’s our right and responsibility.

‘I am a senior and cannot afford to pay these prices’
First, I am a Republican, but I have crossed party lines for the one I thought was the right person for our country. I think the Democrats got it wrong this time with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Our America is in the worst condition I have seen. Gas is $5, hamburger is $7, milk is $5.
And as for respect for the United States, there is none.
I am a senior and I cannot afford to pay these prices So everyone, use your common sense and vote.

Price of Russian oil is paid in Ukrainian blood
That Joe Biden, one of the premier virtue signalers in modern politics, would balk at banning the U.S. purchase of Russian oil when the consequence is a modest (at most) increase in the price of gas at the pump, is totally baffling.
It goes without saying that he will, in the future, blame the Russians (or anyone or anything else he can find — Donald Trump and COVID-19 are of course candidates) for the raging inflation that his domestic policies have generated.
But for him not to realize that every barrel of Russian oil purchased by this country will have been paid for with Ukrainian blood is truly a remarkable example of political tone deafness.

No surprise that Putin invaded Ukraine; he’s been a meddling bully for decades now
I am confused as to how people somehow convince themselves that President Biden is responsible for Vladimir Putin invading Ukraine. This is a destructive position and not at all true.
Putin invaded Ukraine because he thought he could get away with it. He has been conducting small wars from the first days of his leadership in Russia in 1999. In Georgia, in Chechnya, in Syria, in Africa and elsewhere. All this time the rest of the world, the United States included, tried to placate him and develop economic ties to “normalize” relationships.
Putin told George W. Bush back in 2008 that he did not consider Ukraine an independent country. Barack Obama strengthened Putin when he backed down from the chemical weapon “red line” in Syria. He was afraid of a shooting war between the U.S. and Russia. Putin takes confidence from the U.S. backing down.
Putin meddled in the U.S. elections with no backlash. Trump constantly complimented him while threatening to leave NATO as antiquated and obsolete. The U.S. descended into internal strife with some calling for civil war.
Putin convinced himself that he had split the U.S. and NATO into ineffective entities, and he could take a larger bite of the apple. However, he miscalculated and is discovering the power the U.S. and the European Union can wield without weapons when diplomatically in sync. Putin has been a bully his entire career and got away with it over three previous administrations. This time he is getting hit in the nose.
It takes much longer than 12 months to create the impression of a weakened U.S. and world order. It took decades. Right now we are dealing from a position of strength — not weakness.

Publix refusing to sell Russian vodka after purchasing it? What a waste
A March 4 article reported that Publix is removing Russian vodka from shelves.
Removing the vodka makes absolutely no sense, fiscally or otherwise. The vodka has already been purchased by Publix. What a waste. I’ll take it all, if the company wants nothing more to do with it.
Cheers!

Sanctions are useless: Allies must be one with US and flex muscle on Russians
I am appalled and ashamed of the inaction of our government while Vladimir Putin sends his thugs to do his despicable dirty work in the sovereign country of Ukraine, we look the other way.
Sanctions are meaningless as they are being ignored with little clout and of course no action by the talking heads at the functionally comatose United Nations.
Our allies have to be one with us and demand that the Russians leave and make reparations for the death and destruction they have levied on innocent people. Without some muscle from the free world, what other defenseless country will be next? We certainly do not need a nuclear war, but it may be on the horizon as the Bully Russian Bear is not rational and very arrogant. Wake up, Washington.
