Jeffrey Toobin says Joe Biden tarnished his legacy by pardoning his son, and Donald Trump cemented one of many knocks towards him along with his personal slew of presidential pardons.
The lawyer, writer and authorized analyst joined us on “TMZ Live” Wednesday and he instructed us how presidents reveal their true colours when it is time to hand out pardons.
Jeffrey wrote a brand new e-book on the topic, “The Pardon: The Politics of Presidential Mercy,” and says pardons are one of many few powers a president has which can be free from checks and balances — and that is why they inform a lot concerning the males giving them out.
He says Biden revealed his household comes first when he pardoned Hunter … explaining how going again on a promise to not pardon his son torpedoed Joe’s legacy.
Trump handed out pardons like sweet on the finish of his first time period and he pardoned a ton of parents who had been convicted for the Jan. 6 riots … and Jeffrey says it is a part of Trump’s transactional nature.
