In complementary shades of blue and orange or pink and inexperienced, Laura Berger’s oil work (beforehand) meld embracing figures with botanicals, landscapes, and celestial phenomena. Ladies lounge comfortably in a steam bathtub or stroll throughout an expanse of dunes, usually rendered flippantly clear as if floating over or absorbing their environment.
Berger situates the figures’ interactions within the heart of the composition, bending and arranging limbs, foliage, cloth, or strings of stars into intimate, metaphysical geometries.
Her imagery adopts a delicate rhythm, generally even near-symmetry, in a nod to spirituality and transformation. Emanating empowerment and a way of security, the ladies wrap round each other in endearing, protecting collectivity.
Berger could have work in a sales space offered by Mama Initiatives at Untitled Artwork Truthful, which runs December 4 to eight in Miami Seaside, and shall be a part of the exhibition Ultraviolet Disaster at The Pit’s Palm Springs location, which is scheduled to open on December 17.
