“My work arises from the interplay between memory and the present,” says Bogotá-based illustrator Alefes Silva.
Themes of stillness and solitude, progress and demise, and love and heartbreak recur in Silva’s drawings, which fuse unbelievable crops and animals with human particulars. In a single piece, a nude determine slumps over whereas timber and small shrubs develop from its again, whereas one other depicts an excellent, pink sapling sprouting from a red-headed lady.
“Each element carries a specific meaning within my work, tied to a moment in memory, part of a dream or desire,” he provides.
Silva balances his observe with editorial commissions from magazines and publishers and private tasks. He’s presently engaged on 4 illustrated books, together with a gardening diary and explorations of birds and grasshoppers.
