Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) Firenze expands its educational choices with the Grasp of Arts in Inside and Furnishings Design—Hacking Custom: Reinventing Craftsmanship and Supplies. This new program redefines the intersection of heritage and innovation, the place conventional craftsmanship meets up to date design. Aligned with IED’s sustainable textile focus, college students be taught to critically reinterpret cultural and materials heritage by a sustainable lens, with design positioned as a transformative power that shapes environments whereas addressing social and ecological challenges.

This Grasp of Arts program equips college students with the abilities to “hack” custom—decoding artisanal strategies, rethinking supplies, and innovating functions. By fostering a dialogue between previous and future, craftsmanship turns into an area for reinvention. The curriculum integrates DesignXCommons, an ecological design philosophy targeted on sustainability and useful resource regeneration. Rooted in Tuscany’s world-renowned manufacturing traditions—marble, textiles, furnishings, jewellery, and leather-based—this system affords hands-on expertise. College students have interaction in workshops, business collaborations, and real-world tasks, turning cultural contexts into design innovation.

It enhances IED Firenze’s Grasp of Arts in Textile Design—Eco-Threads: Supplies and Circularity, which explores sustainable supplies, eco-design, and course of innovation throughout trend, interiors, and product design. Collectively, these applications place the college as a frontrunner in sustainable design schooling. Set in Florence—the place historical past, artwork, and trend merge—IED Firenze affords a singular studying setting. From the grandeur of Ponte Vecchio to the heritage of Gucci and Ferragamo, the town itself turns into a part of the curriculum. Housed in an architectural landmark, IED Firenze nurtures designers able to problem conventions, honor heritage, and form the way forward for design.
