RYAN REITER & SCHUYLER
By Lori Capullo | Images by Lorena Cora

Should you spot a man coasting down Las Olas Boulevard on his bike with a fluffy white canine perched like royalty in a customized provider, odds are you’ve simply seen one in every of South Florida’s most sudden—and endearing—duos: Ryan Reiter, a U.S. Marine veteran turned public infrastructure advocate, and Schuyler, the four-legged diva who’s not simply alongside for the journey; she is the journey.

Born in Los Angeles and raised between Dallas, Davenport, and finally South Florida, Reiter has referred to as Florida dwelling since 1999. A proud graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas Excessive College, he went on to serve within the Marine Corps and work in native politics, together with a stint as aide to Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca. Immediately, he’s the Vice President of Growth for CORE Development in Florida, a job that retains him embedded in public service—albeit from a distinct angle.

“I work closely with municipalities and school districts to deliver critical infrastructure,” he explains. “It’s mission-driven work that blends strategy, service, and construction. That combination really lights me up.”

However whereas he’s serving to to construct metropolis halls and colleges, there’s one other extra playful, completely groomed pressure preserving his personal life in stability—Schuyler, his beloved canine of 4 years, named for the Schuyler Sisters of Hamilton fame. “I’m a history nerd, and I couldn’t pick just one,” he laughs.

The bond between them fashioned rapidly—and deeply. Adopted throughout a transformative interval in his life, Schuyler has been his confidante, journey associate, and Instagram muse ever since. “She’s loving, loyal, and somehow always knows what I need,” he says. “She’s helped me through challenges, celebrated the wins, and made everyday moments just better.”

Certainly one of their most iconic routines? Bicycling collectively—Schuyler safely zipped right into a pet provider, ears blowing within the wind, a wonderfully styled ponytail bobbing with each flip. It began in the course of the pandemic, when lengthy walks became inventive methods to remain energetic with out tiring out a canine extra fitted to glamor than cardio.

“I saw other dog owners using carriers like the K9 Sport Sack and Little Chonk, and figured we’d give it a shot,” he says. “Now it’s our thing. We’re actually looking at upgrading to an e-bike with a sidecar. She deserves it. She expects it.”

Their shared adventures—seashore days, kayaking excursions, brunch at Las Olas favorites, even events at pet-friendly spots like The Wharf and Barkyard and Brews—have earned Schuyler fairly the next on social media. With fluffy “booties,” a signature topknot, and a peaceful however sassy demeanor, she will get acknowledged extra usually than her human. “Everyone always asks, ‘Who cuts her hair?’” he laughs. “She’s definitely the star of the show.”

However for all the general public cuteness, it’s the quieter moments that imply probably the most.

“Having a dog like Schuyler isn’t just about companionship,” he says. “It’s about connection. She’s the first to know when I need a break, or when it’s time for an adventure. She reminds me to enjoy the ride—literally and figuratively.”

Would he ever think about a second canine?

“Maybe,” he admits. “She’s really social. I think she’d love a buddy. But for now, it’s just the two of us. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In a world the place politics are polarized and life strikes quick, Reiter has discovered one thing refreshingly grounding in his relationship with Schuyler: a day by day reminder that pleasure may be present in small issues: a motorcycle journey, a snatched haircut, or the proper sundown together with your greatest pal driving shotgun.

Or, in Schuyler’s case, heart stage.
