MLB star Jarren Duran was caught on a scorching mic calling a heckler an anti-gay slur on Sunday … and after receiving backlash for hours, the outfielder issued a mea culpa, apologizing for his “truly horrific” language.
The 27-year-old Crimson Sox participant let the f-word fly when he stepped into the batter’s field in the course of the sixth inning of Boston’s blowout loss to Houston.

You may hear in audio from the sport’s broadcast … as a person within the Fenway Park stands chirped him about needing “a tennis racket” whereas on the dish — he fired again by calling the man a “f***ing f****t.”
Social media customers had been fast to choose up the clip from the competition and lay into him for the offensive remark — and after it went viral, Duran stated he was sorry.
“During tonight’s game,” he wrote in a press release, “I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan. I feel awful knowing how many people I offended and disappointed.”
“I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization, but more importantly to the entire LGBTQ community. Our young fans are supposed to be able to look up to me as a role model, but tonight I fell far short of that responsibility. I will use this opportunity to educate myself and my teammates and to grow as a person.”
Duran — who was named All-Star Sport MVP in July — had truly obtained the Coronary heart and Hustle Award from Boston earlier within the day to acknowledge him for embodying the “values, spirit and traditions” of baseball.
For his or her half, the Crimson Sox stated in a press release of their very own that they did tackle the matter with Duran following the sport.
“We echo Jarren’s apology to our fans, especially to the LGBTQ community,” they added. “We strive to be an organization that welcomes all fans to Fenway Park, and we will continue to educate our employees, players, coaches and staff on the importance of inclusivity.”
No phrase but if Duran will face punishment over all of it.
