“What does a wall have that a canvas doesn’t?” asks Rome-based artist Alice Pasquini. Bursting with vibrant hues and tender optimism, Pasquini’s murals are pushed by her ongoing curiosity in human emotion, relationships, and connection. Overarching themes so common and timeless permit passersby to narrate in a roundabout way, seeing photos of curious figures peering on the world by binoculars with child-like marvel or floating weightlessly alongside a constructing.

As she blankets partitions with large-scale items whereas touring to totally different international locations, the artist makes an effort to immerse herself in every tradition. Pasquini developed her apply by deepening engagement with communities, leading to depictions of intimate narratives distinctive to their environments. “Each mural I create represents a story, often of exclusion but more frequently of redemption,” the artist says. “This includes works in places like women’s prisons and shelters for minor immigrants. I call it contextual art—art that is born for a specific place and could not exist in the same way elsewhere. The scars of the city are the best canvases to bring value back to abandoned things.”

Pasquini is engaged on a publication and exhibition for her unpublished journey sketchbooks and getting ready a big set up for Medical doctors With out Borders, which can be introduced in October in Ferrara, Italy. See extra on the artist’s web site and Instagram.
