Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin began its journey on Sunday, traveling from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh. The queen, who died on Thursday, Sept. 8, lay in rest in Edinburgh until Tuesday afternoon. Her coffin was flown to London on Tuesday evening to lie in state ahead of her funeral on Monday at Westminster Abbey.

On Monday, a funeral service for the queen at Westminster Abbey in central London drew dignitaries from all over the globe, and crowds of people lined the streets to bid her farewell. Her coffin was then taken to Windsor Castle, where it will be interred alongside members of her family.

Monday, Sept. 19
