  • Some of the classified records seized from Mar-a-Lago contained highly sensitive intelligence on Iran and China, per The Washington Post.

  • They’re among the most sensitive documents identified so far, according to the report.

  • Trump remains under investigation over his handling of the documents.

Among the classified documents that the FBI seized from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in August included highly sensitive information about Iran and China, sources close to the matter told The Washington Post in a report published Friday.

At least one of the classified records contained intelligence on Iran’s missile program, while others had intelligence information on China, The Post reported, citing sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The sources told The Post that they were among the most sensitive documents federal agents recovered. The newspaper previously reported that some of the material found at Mar-a-Lago had information on a foreign government’s nuclear capabilities.

FBI agents recovered 20 boxes from Mar-a-Lago and at least 11 sets of classified documents.

A spokesperson for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Experts told The Post that disclosing information in such documents could reveal US intelligence secrets and put people responsible for intelligence work in danger. It could also put US relations with foreign nations at risk, The Post reported.

The Post’s reporting comes as the Department of Justice continues its investigation into whether Trump violated three federal laws over his handling of the records. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, claiming in different instances that he had a right to take the documents and that they were declassified.

In a statement on Friday, Trump claimed the FBI and the DOJ “are now leaking nonstop on the Document Hoax to the Fake News” and suggested that agents planted information in the seized documents.
