Six Activist Trolls Tromp Via a California Woodland to ‘Save the People’

As guests wander via a mile-stretch of Filoli’s Pure Lands this summer time, they’ll encounter a gaggle of keen wood characters able to share their knowledge. Trolls: Save the People is a playful, but pressing exhibition by Danish artist Thomas Dambo (beforehand), who’s recognized for creating huge fairytale characters from reclaimed wooden.

At Filoli, Dambo has put in six creatures, every with a definite character and agenda. There’s the modern “Kamma Can,” a “treasure troll” that enjoys instructing individuals to show their leftover wrappers and disposable containers into vibrant creations. “Ibbi Pip: The Birdhouse Troll” is equally involved with reworking the surroundings by putting in avian properties, whereas “Sofus Lotufs: The Listening Troll” directs our consideration to the forest flooring and asks us to be conscious of the adjustments occurring throughout.

“I’m so happy my Trolls get to spend some time amongst the giant redwoods at Filoli,” Dambo says. “I spent a day hiking in the forest, and it is a magical place where I know my Trolls will feel at home.”

Staggering in stature and alluring in presence, the characters are activists at their core and captivated with instructing sustainability. Like a lot of the artist’s observe, this exhibition makes use of the allure and surprise of fairytales to convey important messages concerning the local weather disaster and human habits.
