Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron and Mark Carney of “emboldening Hamas”, after they known as for a halt to Israel’s army offensive and an finish to restrictions on humanitarian support in Gaza.

On Friday, the armed forces minister, Luke Pollard, defended the UK’s condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza and stated he didn’t agree with Netanyahu’s declare that the UK, France and Canada have been siding with mass murderers.

He stated the federal government’s ideas went out to the households of the diplomats “brutally murdered in that antisemitic attack” within the US.

“We stand in support of Israel’s right to self-defence, as long as they conduct that within international humanitarian law, a position that we’ve had since those appalling [Hamas] attacks on 7 October.

“And we also are very clear that we need to see aid get to the people who are genuinely suffering in Gaza at the moment. That’s a consistent position that we’ve been making privately and publicly for many many months.”
