Teahupo’o, a village positioned on Tahiti’s southeastern coast, boasts a shallow and precipitous coral reef system that creates a novel surf break, leading to among the largest waves on Earth. These highly effective, barreling surges attract surfers from all over the world, together with photographer Tim McKenna.
From a younger age, McKenna surfed on the west coasts of France and later Australia. He’s deeply fascinated by the ability of the ocean and its fixed temper adjustments from serene ripples to towering swells. The photographer started documenting waves as he rode of their heaving actions and ultimately settled in Teahupo’o, the place he’s lived for greater than 20 years.
